Rice University (officially named William Marsh Rice University) is a private research university in Houston, Texas, United States. It is considered one of the most prominent institutions of higher education in the state of Texas.

The university has a large number of prominent graduates, including more than two dozen Scholarship researchers and a dozen Rhodes Scholarship researchers. Two graduates have won the Nobel Prize, and many others are leading research in the fields of science, technology and engineering.

One of the most successful researchers at Rice University is Professor James Tour. Professor Tour is a professor of chemistry, computer science, materials engineering and nanotechnology. Tour has over 700 research publications and over 130 patent families.

Most of the companies included in CTW were created according to the patents and research of Professor James Tour.
