BrainstormCell specializes in the development of stem cell-based technologies and drugs. In 2012, Brainstorm and the Hadassah Company of Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem began a clinical trial of a new treatment based on cellular therapy designed to delay or stop the degeneration of nerve cells in ALS. In the experiment, cells are extracted from the patient's bone marrow, multiplied in the laboratory and the cells needed for treatment are isolated. They are then treated with various growth factors and eventually injected back into the patient. Brainstorm is traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange
